Today is the Day the Lord has Made

I love to hear those words, “Today is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it”. Each day is a gift, a blessing. You never know when it is your last day or someone else’s  so make sure you show only love, not hate. The saddest stories are those when someone has passed and someone is regretting the last conversation they had with that person.

That happened to me with my sister Liberty. She was a year younger than I and we loved each other, but like sisters do, we had a difference of opinion. Before we had a chance to talk again, she died in a car accident. Sad times. When we went to her home to clear out her items (she was a single mom), she had a journal. I read the last passage she wrote which was regarding our conversation with the words “how could she say that to me”. I closed the book and read no more, but those words have haunted me all these years. I yearn to tell her how much I loved her and to hug her.

Please remember to show love to your children, spouse, family, friends and all you come in contact with. Let their last thought of you be a good one and a blessed one.

Today is the day the Lord has made…

Why Am I Here?

Today’s topics from God’s perspective

Topic: Why am I here? What good am I?

Every person on the planet asks these questions at some point. I think it is engrained in our being to want to feel like we matter. We know we are loved by our friends and family but will we be noticed when we are gone?  What will people say about you after you are gone?

When you look at a tombstone you see birth date, death date and a dash in between.  It is how you live that dash that will determine how you are remembered and where you end up. You never know when the death date will come so it is important to live each day like it is your last.

Galatians 5: 22-23 New Living Translation But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Now, you are probably looking at this list and going, “I don’t have any of these or only a couple!!”

Been there, done that. We are all being molded each day into the person that can serve God best in His kingdom. Unfortunately, this makes it a journey with a lot of speed bumps, pot holes, wrong turns and flat tires. Each event helps mold you and shape you for the next event coming in your life and for your ultimate destination with God. There was only one perfect person on this earth- Jesus. The rest of us are flawed and need to continually move toward the good gifts of the spirit and not these

Mark 7:21-23

“For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness. “All these evil things proceed from within and defile the man.”

If you think this is impossible, you are wrong. You can work at one at a time. I know patience is definitely not my strong suit. But think of it as – how can I make this a positive rather than a negative. This has probably helped me move forward with many projects while others procrastinate. Yes, sometimes it has been an irritation to others but knowing you are looking to God to help you discern when it is good or bad helps.

Doing what society/man wants from you will only cause you heartache. Look to the fruits of the spirit and grow your gifts to go to the ultimate destination with God in Heaven.

Prayer: Lord God, show me your love and that I do matter. Show me what you want me to do in this world to be the light that draws others to you. Grow my fruits of the spirit so it will flow to others in need. I look forward to the day I am with you in heaven and have made a life worthy of your glory. Amen
